Part 1: Pre-workshop classroom activities (Optional)
(i) Pre-workshop session
An optional 1.5 hour pre-workshop session may be arranged for teachers and students participating in artist-led activities to provide a better understanding of participatory art practice and the participating artist before M+ Rover visits the school. We encourage teachers to arrange the session for students during school hours. M+ will settle the date, time, and details after confirming the schedule of in-school activities.
Part 2: In-school activities
(i) Artist-led activities
Around 25 F.3 to F.6 students will join the participating artist as co-producers of their works in the 2.5 hour participatory art experience at M+ Rover. The interaction between the students and the artist is geared to stimulate imagination and creativity.
(ii) M+ Rover exhibition
All staff and students are welcome to visit the exhibition during timeslots outside the workshop period. We encourage schools to arrange guided tours to run during school hours for any student interested, regardless of whether or not they are studying art. Each tour is approximately 20 minutes long.
Schools are welcome to request that M+ Rover parks for more than one day if the campus can accommodate overnight parking. M+ may grant the request depending on availability and the site condition.
Part 3: Community activities
(i) Artist-led community activities
Around 25 participating F.3 to F.6 students will visit community spaces with the artist, and bring their version of the M+ Rover exhibition with them. Students extend their experience of the contemporary visual culture experience through engaging in dialogues with the public and expand upon their creative process and imaginations. Duration is approximately 3 hours.
M+ provides a resource pack introducing the participating artist and his or her work to secondary school teachers to prepare students before the M+ Rover visit. After the visit, this pack can help initiate discussions and related activities, serving to enhance the student experience. This resource pack collection is enriched as M+ Rover commissions different artists each year. Teachers at non-participating schools may use the pack for research and lesson planning.
