The West Kowloon 101 Foyer Talks on 7 and 8 December 2019 will be rescheduled to 28 and 29 December 2019 at 1:45pm – 2:15pm. Both talks will be conducted by To Wing-sum on The Backstage of Cantonese Opera.

From now to coming March, we present afternoon foyer talks every first weekend of each month, as an informal introduction to the art of Cantonese opera.

Cantonese opera is a UNESCO-recognised heritage art with deep ties to Hong Kong’s history and culture. Like other regional variations of Chinese opera (xiqu), it is a total theatre practice that requires performers to master singing, acting, recital and martial arts.

In these 30-minute talks, experienced professional performers share their experience and insight on various aspects of the art form, including face painting, costumes, vocal styles, and stage movements. Join us to find out more.
