This November marks the start of our new three-year CCDC in Residence programme. For the first event in the collaboration, Freespace partners with CCDC to present a range of the company’s projects including two major dance productions as part of City Contemporary Dance Festival 2019. Re-Mark, the opening performance, is a thought-provoking new work on body, space of the city and memory by CCDC Resident Choreographer Sang Jijia. Almost 55, created by a team of artists from Hong Kong and Taiwan, is a solo for CCDC Resident Artist Qiao Yang that celebrates her forty-year career.

The week-long event also includes experimental presentations of a futuristic virtual reality dance film on memory and emotion, VR Dance Video – Afterimage for Tomorrow by Taiwanese film director Singing Chen and choreographer Chou Shu-yi, indoor and outdoor performances for audiences of all ages, and open studio presentation sessions for local and international dance artists and professionals in the global industry.

With a mixture of free and ticketed performances in and around Freespace and the Art Park, the collaborative event opens up new possibilities for experimentation and new perspectives on dance in Hong Kong.

This event is part of West Kowloon’s commitment to establish long-term partnerships with local and international arts organisations.
