Ms Winnie Tam is the immediate past Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association and a Senior Counsel in private practice. She is particularly known for her expertise in intellectual property and civil commercial matters. She holds the judicial appointment of Recorder of the Court of First Instance of the High Court of the HKSAR, in which capacity she devotes part of her professional time to sit as a judge. Her other roles in public service include serving on the Board of Trustees of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund, the ICAC Advisory Committee on Corruption, the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the audit committee of HKAPA, and the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.

Ms Tam has a deep interest in Western classical music and Chinese classical arts and literature, and was for many years an active choral singer, choir director and concert soloist in Hong Kong. She has remained a keen supporter of the musical arts through her work with the registered charity, Lin Yao Ji Music Foundation, which supports the development of young string talent by awarding scholarships, and promotes education and a wider appreciation of string music in Hong Kong.
