Known for their adventurous spirit and groundbreaking works in stimulating performing arts in South East Asia, Indonesian performance collective Teater Garasi and Garasi Performance Institute have been working for more than a decade with a belief in performing arts as a way to process and produce knowledge and to dialectically involve with the social political environment. Their collective approach of devising performance based on research and investigation of chosen socio-political issues is translated into a dynamic workflow: research, improvisation, codification and composition. Participants of this 5-day intensive workshop will experience this approach in a Teater Garasi production and get valuable insights into how Teater Garasi has been creating critical dialogues with Indonesian society through performance.
